What SecondShift is, from its own site
SecondShift describes itself as a tool that "turns your scattered client documentation into professional, clinic-branded, and personalised reports in minutes." It converts existing clinical documentation, session notes, referral letters, hospital reports, assessments and uploaded files, into draft reports: progress reports, initial assessments, functional capacity assessments, discharge summaries and service agreements. It runs standardised assessments in-app and syncs with Cliniko and Splose practice-management systems. It's aimed at Australian allied health clinics across occupational therapy, speech pathology, physiotherapy, psychology, behaviour support, exercise physiology and dietetics.
SecondShift is currently free during an early access period, per its own site: full access, no credit card required. No pricing structure for after early access is published anywhere on the site as at 9 August 2026.
Where the two tools do the same job
Both are built around a clinician draft-review-approve loop, and neither claims to replace clinical judgement. SecondShift's own site frames this the same way Scrive does: the AI produces a draft, the clinician reviews and approves it. If what you need is a tool that drafts a report from documentation you already have, in one clinic, both do that job. SecondShift's practice-management sync (Cliniko, Splose) is a real, useful feature Scrive doesn't currently have.
What Scrive is
Scrive is Clearline Health's report-drafting app for occupational therapists and behaviour support practitioners: functional capacity assessments, home and living assessments, assistive technology assessments and behaviour support plans. It proposes a structured draft from what the team has recorded, and the clinician reviews and owns every sentence before it's finished, cutting a full-day report to roughly thirty minutes of clinician time. The real difference: does the report reach the provider
SecondShift's own site states each clinic is a fully isolated tenant, with row-level security scoping every query to that clinic. That's a reasonable, secure design choice for a single-practice tool, and we found no feature on their site connecting one clinic's account to a separate organisation's system, only their practice-management integrations, which are tooling internal to that one clinic.
Scrive is one of four apps on Clearline Connect. Every Clearline account carries a Connect ID: an OT can share that ID with a participant's SIL provider, and a finished Scrive report can open as a read-only card in the provider's own messages feed, with consent on both sides. That's the structural difference: SecondShift drafts a report inside one clinic's own walls; Scrive can hand a finished report to the provider who needs it, without anyone re-typing or re-uploading it into a separate system.

If your practice-management system is Cliniko or Splose and you want the sync, or you're comfortable on an early-access product with no published post-launch price, SecondShift is a genuine option worth evaluating on its own terms.
