Key dates for SIL providers
The dates that actually drive your registration decision, not just 1 July.
| Date | What happens |

| 1 July 2026 | SIL provider registration became mandatory. SIL moved to a new dedicated registration group, 0138; existing SIL registrations under 0115 roll over automatically. The SIL supplementary Practice Standards module commenced. |
| 30 September 2026 | Last day you can claim for SIL delivered if you're unregistered and haven't applied by 1 October. After this, delivery must stop for anyone who missed that deadline. |
| 1 October 2026 | Deadline for existing unregistered SIL providers to apply for registration. Apply by this date and you can keep delivering while your application is assessed. |
| July 2027 | The wider mandatory-registration expansion, covering personal care providers and closed settings more broadly, is expected to commence. |
| End of 2030 | Full implementation of the wider registration expansion, per the government's stated timeline. |
